Do I need to be near you?Do you teach online?
We only teach in person. You must be able to get to a Twin Cities suburb regularly for classes and rituals.

Can anyone come to your rituals?
We are not a public ritual group - we simply don't have the space. As a training group (focusing on personal transformation in a context of religious worship and magickal work), some rituals are also designed specifically for current students and initiates. However, Seekers and vouched for guests are welcome at a number of rituals and other events.

If you're interested in learning more about the group, we encourage you to attend our Seeker classes. That way, we get to know you, and you get to meet some of us. The second and third Seeker classes cover material (etiquette, ritual structure) that often make attending any ritual more comfortable for newcomers.

Do you offer anything for children?
Circle of the Phoenix is an adult training circle. Some of our rituals involve things that may be frustrating or boring for children (such as longer guided meditations). Others may talk about concepts (grief, sacrifice for a desire, relationships) that may not be of interest or at an age-appropriate level for them.

Older children (usually at least 11 or 12) who can follow the same behavior expectations we have of adults (see question 6) are sometimes welcome at specific rituals by invitation. If this is of interest, please talk to our High Priestess and High Priest.

Family members of all ages are generally welcome at social events (as long as the venue is appropriate for that age.) A number of other groups in the Twin Cities do provide child-friendly rituals or other programming. We are glad to tell you what we know about these resources if you need help finding them.

I have some disability/mobility/other health concerns. How flexible are you?
Specific needs vary so much that we encourage anyone with concerns or questions to talk to us about it privately (send an email to the
the contact address or ask your Seeker class teacher, to get this conversation started.)

Specific medical details can be kept generally confidential, but some information may need to be shared with specific initiates whose ritual or teaching roles involve the well-being of those in circle. We're glad to talk about how this kind of information will be shared or used before hearing details.

How flexible is group scheduling? I'm very busy.
Our Seeker classes alternate between week nights and weekends (check the Seeker class page for more information). Group rituals are generally (but not always) scheduled for weekends. Dedicant classes take place on Sunday afternoons. We are glad to discuss attendance expectations and schedule details with anyone considering petitioning for  Dedicancy with the group.

Is there anything I need to know before coming to an event?
We cover most of this information in our second Seeker class: largely, we ask for common sense and basic courtesy. If you are invited to an event and have not been to this class, please ask the person inviting you to go over the basics of ritual etiquette with you.

You talk about further training: how do I find out about this?
There is an application process for Dedicant training. Requirements include completing our Seeker classes, their assignments, and attending rituals both with us and with other groups in the area. We review all of the requirements and answer any questions during the last Seeker class.

The application process is to make sure that you are a good fit for the group as a whole, and that you are aware of our expectations and what is involved. Not everyone who applies to become a Dedicant is accepted, but we try to suggest other local resources to explore whenever possible.

Dedicant training begins in January or February each year. We encourage anyone interested in training to take our Seeker classes finishing by the end of October. This gives you time to attend rituals and for us to get to know you before the start of the Dedicant class cycle.

I'm looking for someone to talk to my class/to interview  for a research paper/some other informational need. Can you help?
Possibly! Please send an email to our contact address with the details of what you're looking for. Make sure to include any deadlines, times you need someone, or specific interests, as well as a reliable way to contact you. Several group members enjoy this kind of conversation with interested students.
